As an alternative to veneers, bonding is a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored, or misarranged. The surface of the tooth is lightly etched before a tooth-colored resin is applied, sculpted, and polished into the desired shape for a natural appearance.
When undergoing a dental bonding treatment a mild etching is applied to the teeth in order to create crevices on the enamel of the teeth. This texture provides a permissible surface so that the bonding will adhere to the teeth. The resin is then applied and cured with high-intensity light. The dentist then sculpts the tooth and finishes up with a polish.
